79: Why Big Audacious Social Media Posts are Killing Your Business with Bevin Farrand
How many social media posts have you seen about someone having their “highest grossing year yet”? You know the ones… They’re typically on bright, colorful backgrounds, and it’s usually only the first week of January when they announce that this is their million-dollar year! This might seem harmless or like just another post in the scroll. But my guest, Bevin Farrand, explains why they’re actually harmful to your business…
Bevin founded Take the DAMN Chance in 2019 after losing her husband 5 days after returning from a whirlwind trip to France. Through her DAMN framework, thousands have been inspired to connect with the people they love, do the “crazy thing” that makes all the difference, and take the damn chance. Additionally, Bevin is an executive business strategist and coach who supports small businesses and entrepreneurs in developing and executing strategies to take their revenue to 6 and 7-figures.
This is my second conversation with Bevin (check out episode 62 for our first). In this episode, we discuss why people put up these types of posts, how they’re detrimental to business, and how you can connect with people you need to support you.
Highlights from this episode with Bevin include:
- A quick damn introduction (3:29)
- Why big, audacious posts are killing your business (8:51)
- Layered declarations (12:34)
- What’s wrong with these posts (20:15)
- Validation and not asking permission (31:37)
- The importance of connection (35:17)
- Support you need versus support you want (40:05)
- One final piece of advice (43:37)
- Where to find Bevin (44:47)
I just love talking to this lady so much! I hope this conversation reminded you there is a difference between permission and support, and that you don’t need permission to pursue big, bold dreams. I’d love to hear if this episode motivated you to “take the damn chance” on something! DM me on Instagram and let me know what it was!
