
17: 4 Mindset shifts that you need to make to start showing up fully in your business

Today’s episode we are going to talk about mindset. This is often something that we try to power through, to push past, to ignore. Especially when we’re in a chaotic season and we just need to get stuff done. I’m looking at you wedding pros in the middle of our busiest season yet. But if you pressed play for this episode, you’re at least curious as to what mindset shifts we need to make to show up fully in your business.
Because I was right there with you. A few years ago I didn’t think I had the time to focus on this stuff. I thought mindset was just a bunch of fluff and I want tangible step-by-step tips. Oh I’m gonna give you those tips girlfriends… stick with me and I’ll show you exactly what you need to do to build, grow and scale your business.
And step number one – get that mindset right. Because you can’t stand up and show up like a boss… if you’re struggling here. So take some time with me to really listen to this one. And more importantly, implement the tips I’m about to share. They changed and business.
Ready for this… let’s dive in.
#1 Repeat after me – “The wedding world needs what I sell”
Do you believe in your products?
Do you believe in you?
In your service?
Do you believe wholeheartedly that you can deliver value?
THEN SELL IT!
If you’re providing value, there is nothing wrong with showing up and giving it to your audience.
But you have to have NO doubt in what you’re selling. Maybe that means niching down so that you can be 100% confident in what you sell. You don’t have to offer EVERYTHING, you just have to offer your secret sauce.
For example, I don’t sell letterpress. The equipment is expensive and the process is time consuming. I politely decline those jobs, and refer to another stationer who specializes in it. I do this so that I can focus my time on selling what I know inside and out, rather than drive myself crazy spending time and stress on figuring out something I am not an expert in. Don’t be afraid to say NO… because that will open your time up to so many more YESSES.
“If you don’t sell, you are doing your customers a disservice.” I heard this quote from Dean Graziosi and it changed the way I thought about selling. If you don’t sell your product, your customers are stuck with the alternatives and you KNOW you are better.
You are valuable for SO many reasons, my friend. I’m going to help you communicate HOW you are better and different than your customer’s alternative throughout this course, sit tight.
#2 Repeat after me – “I am not taking money from my customers, I am giving them so much more”
So often, I see entrepreneurs scared to own their pricing and value. They timidly say the cost instead of holding their head high… KNOWING they are worth every penny.
Remember, you are not TAKING their money, you are giving them an amazing product, value, time, peace of mind (fill in the blank _____________ )
We think of selling as a one way transaction. Focus on what you’re giving. You and I both KNOW that your value far exceeds the cost.
#3 No one is thinking about you. No one.
This one took me a while. In fact, it took me 6 years into my business before getting on video. Why? Because I was too scared to show up.
If you’re anything like me, I know you’re terrified to show up, but no one is looking at you. Your friends from high school aren’t sitting at their computer analyzing everything you post. You are thinking so much more about yourself than other people are, don’t let this mindset hold you back.
Stop thinking about you, start thinking about who you are serving. People that follow you, already love and trust you – they WANT you to show up. They WANT what you offer. That’s why they are following you. Show up and sell unapologetically.
#4 It is your job to sell your business
This one might make some waves. But I’m not going to teach you any vendor referral approaches in this course. Because I don’t rely on referrals. I appreciate them when they come, and return the favor every chance I get to refer other wedding pros. But, I firmly believe that it is OUR JOB to sell our business. NO ONE will sell like you do.
Put in the work and control the outcome – other people selling your business is not a strategy, it’s a bonus.
